Anne Hathaway accepts the award for best actress in a supporting role for “Les Miserables”

“It came true,” she said as she accepted her golden statuette.“We did it upwards of 20 times, but it was the fourth take that (director) Tom (Hooper) came up to me and said, ‘You know, I have it. That was the one. I don’t imagine we’re going to do better than that’,” she told an interviewer.“And I, of course, am like… ‘I can do it again.’ And I never broke through in the same way again,” she added.

It came as a surprise to pretty much no one on earth when Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best Actor Oscar for his mesmerizing performance as the 16th president of the United States in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln." But what may be news to most is that this win establishes an Oscar record.With the win for "Lincoln," Day-Lewis is the only person in the history of the Academy Awards to win Best Actor more than twice. He previously won for his performance as Christy Brown, the Irish writer and painter who suffered from extreme cerebral palsy, in "My Left Foot" (1989), and for his portrayal of ruthless oil tycoon Daniel Plainview in "There Will Be Blood" (2007).

Day-Lewis has become both a legend and an industry inside joke for his immersive approach to acting. He's notorious for never breaking character while working on a film, with the latest tales of his, uh, "commitment" to the craft including sending texts to co-star Sally Field in character as the Civil War-era president.Day-Lewis also received Best Actor nominations for "Gangs of New York" (2002) and "In the Name of the Father" (1993), though he lost those years to Adrien Brody ("The Pianist") and Tom Hanks ("Philadelphia"), respectively.There have been several two-time Best Actor winners, including Hanks ("Philadelphia," "Forrest Gump"), Jack Nicholson ("As Good As It Gets," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"), and Dustin Hoffman ("Rain Man," "Kramer vs. Kramer").But a new bar has been set for Hollywood's leading men: Can you beat -- or at least match -- Daniel "Trifecta" Day-Lewis?

Christoph Waltz wins Best Supporting Actor for Oscar 2013

Christoph Waltz said... "I think, like, five minutes ago I got this ... I was on a list of the greatest actors around ... How do you think someone feels when his name is called in that context? I can't tell you. I'm sorry."

With "Django Unchained" doing blockbuster business, Waltz was asked what it was like starring in the highest grossing western of all-time: "I'm just an actor, not an accountant."
He admitted he thought of an acceptance speech but didn't go to the trouble of writing one. Then Waltz emphasized yet again his admiration for the writer-director behind "Django" and his previous winning role in "Inglourious Basterds." "Quentin writes poetry, and I like poetry," said Waltz.

Anyone got a sammy? This "Hunger Games" champ is hungry.

Jennifer Lawrence, up for an Academy Award tonight as Best Actress for "Silver Linings Playbook," is apparently too busy working the carpet to get a square meal.Last year, Lawrence cheerfully told reporters that she'd chowed down on a Philly cheesesteak before the show, but tonight, when E!'s Ryan Seacrest asked her on there red carpet what she was most looking forward to for the show, she replied, "Aw, this show is so long! I'm really excited about the food!"Lawrence added, "Today was stressful, and I had no time to eat."

Lawrence, looking coolly elegant in a white Dior gown, didn't seem to be suffering, but with the Oscar telecast expected to run longer than usual, with over a dozen production numbers on the agenda, there's going to be a long wait before she gets dinner.During ABC's red-carpet interview, the down-to-earth Lawrence became the first celeb of the evening to get bleeped on live TV. When host Kristen Chenoweth jokingly asked Lawrence "Is the Pope Catholic?" Lawrence replied, "Does a bear s--- in the woods?"

ABC's censors caught the quip in time, but someone needs to get that gal a snack before she says something more outrageous.
